About the Event
Patrick Belmont
Patrick Belmont is a Professor in the Department of Watershed Sciences at Utah State University. He came to Logan 15 years ago from University of Minnesota and spent one year at the National University of Ireland. His research spans water, dirt (soils), wildfire, and climate science with recent projects focusing on wildfire impacts on fish, rivers and reservoirs, climate change implications for multi-use management of public lands, and climate change risks for ski resorts in Utah. He was USU’s Faculty Researcher of the Year in 2018 and served as President of the Faculty Senate from 2018-2021. He also has a recent TEDx talk on redefining and overcoming climate change denial. And he is Vice Chair of Logan City’s Renewable Energy and Sustainability Advisory Board. He’s dead serious about solving the climate crisis, protecting Wild Utah, and restoring Great Salt Lake.
